Introducing Sunmi

From the outset, one of our aims has been to help grow the workforce in Wales and to link up with local universities to do so. That’s why this week has felt like a bit of a milestone for us as our first Year in Industry student joins the Perago team on a 12-month placement.

Sunmi has just completed her second year as a Business and Economics student at Swansea University and will be joining the team as a Business Support Officer. She’ll be getting involved across all our workstreams and working with several of our clients over the year.  In addition to some business development related projects, one of her first assignments will be working alongside my colleague Tim supporting the setup of the Centre for Digital Public Services (CDPS). CDPS has been created to identify, stimulate and promote collaboration across the public sector in Wales to transform public services to meet the needs and expectations of the user. The company will be a focal point for public sector digital transformation activity in Wales.  We’re looking forward to seeing the value Sunmi will be able to add to our engagement with the Centre.

This is the first time we’ve worked with local universities to fill a post, and we were incredibly impressed by the standard of applications for this placement opportunity. We never imagined we’d be recruiting our first placement student remotely via Zoom, but all the candidates demonstrated their flexibility and enthusiasm in the face of the current circumstances. We’re delighted that Sunmi has accepted this role and we’re looking forward to learning from her as she brings her insight and experience to the team.

Sunmi

Hi everyone, as Victoria said I’m Sunmi. I’ve just finished my second year at Swansea University. I’m currently studying Economics and Business and have completed modules including management consulting, marketing and strategy and economic policy. I wanted to broaden my knowledge by gaining first-hand experience from a company such as Perago, which is why I am so excited to have this opportunity.

I will be starting today, and one of the first tasks I believe is to work alongside Tim in supporting the setup of the Centre for Digital Public Services (CDPS). I’m looking forward to learning from Tim and the rest of the team and gaining some insight into which methods work best and learn how the company will be able to transform public sector digital activity in Wales. I’ve really enjoyed my last two years in Swansea so to be able to help with business development projects as well as improving digital public services in Wales, would be fantastic to see first-hand.

Throughout the year, I will be working on various projects so I will be able to learn from different experiences and hopefully help in any way I can. This time in lockdown has been great to take time out and relax, but I can’t wait to get stuck in and started with the team!

What’s next

Sunmi will be writing a monthly post for our blog about her experience as part of the team here at Perago, and we’re looking forward to hearing her story and her insights and sharing them with you.
